As a newly established organisation, the Dwarf Sports Association Ireland, (DSAI), has already competed in various sports at the World Dwarf Games in Michigan, USA in August 2013. Team Ireland brought home 46 medals in total from Michigan, including 17 gold.
Now back from the 7th World Dwarf Games in Guelph, Ontario, Canada in August 2017, team Ireland can be proud and honoured bringing home 17 medals in total. The athletes had a fantastic time at the games and will be remember the event for the rest of their lifes.
"To compete on a level playing field at an international level is something to dream about" said by Sinead Keon. The DSAI have had terrific support from disability organisations including Enable Ireland and the Irish Wheelchair Association.
Members of Team Ireland come from all parts of the country – from Donegal to West Cork, Belfast to Galway – a true representation of the sporting talent that exists on this small island.
Having represented their country at international competition, team Ireland can look back at the achievements from the games being proud and strong.
The Irish athletes competed in sports including track and field, swimming, badminton, power lifting, boccia, archery and team events (Soccer and Basketball).
